With only 9 points between Redbull KTM AJO riders Remy Gardner and teammate Raul Fernandez coming into the weekends racing at Misano. It was all to fight for!
However not all went to plan. Sam Lowes took qualifying and then led the race with Aron Canet and Jorge Navarro hot on his tail.
Fernandez sat in seventh while Gardner was back in 12th.
Raul fought his way into forth by lap 2, then come lap 4 made his move on Navarro putting himself in a podium position. Lowes reclaimed P1 and continued to push ahead stretching his lead.
With the aim of claiming the championship lead Raul was charging and made his move on Canet and then firmly set his eyes on Lowes, taking the lead mid race.
Back in the field Remy collided with Somkiat Chantra which saw him received a long lap penalty, stifling his chances and then only moments later things went from bad to worse for the team with Raul locking the front at pace sending him and his bike barrel rolling through the gravel in spectacular fashion. Thankfully he got up and walked away.
Remy continued to push on finishing 7th giving him 9 points and bringing his total to 280 points with 2 races to go in the championship. Raul currently sitting in 2nd overall with 262 points.
